Nice tips. You don't need any programs to manage your startup. Simply just edit it .
Diskeeper 2008 is a good disk defrag prog.
Use an anti vir that has spyware protection so that you won't need extra programs.
Another tip for vista users:
If you prefer performance over appearance, then use the Windows Vista Basic appearance. and only use the default gadgets for the sidebar. (don't use too many)
Hmm. Uh, uninstall the gadgets that you don't even use.
Use an uninstallation program like Your Uninstaller! 2008, because it can remove some files that the default uninstaller doesn't remove.
