By doing such test you should consider ur provider's source.. its like sending and recieving a letter.. Your ping reply from ur source will vary on how many times the message is forwarded.. its just like from ur pc--> phil --> china --> korea --> australia --> the main server then the responce will follow after reaching the destination and start moving server reply-->australia -->korea --> china --> phil --> ur pc You can try to view the ping reply by the source.. try to follow this.. 1. Click on START 2. Click Run 3. type "cmd" to run the command prompt 4. then type "ping http://www.whatever.com -t" [img]http://img213.imageshack.us/img213/2786/cmd1qs1.jpg[/img] well, that goes ur ping reply.. Dial-up or broadband or multi-line cable dont have its exact download and upload rate set by the host to ur line but downloading and openning site will also depend on ur ping reply from the original source.. i dont have enough basis for this but that's my theory.. That will always depend on how ur provider purchase its product.. that's like a pyramid scam hehe.. if ur near to the main provider the higher u can earn those bits n bytes..im pointing on web download ok.. unless its lan cable then ull be having the full speed.. try to measure the ping reply of the site u wer trying to open..
