The floppy disk era will end if all motherboards, CMOS and floppy drive support will be removed. Alas even though it's obsolete. Floppy is still reliable when it comes to bios flash upgrades than USBs and CD ROMs. Well, based on some IT professionals anyway. 
Anyway, all of these depends on the CMOS and BIOS.
