This kind of problem is usually because of wrong bbcode format. 
In the page posted by Ephe, [i]~*~cute~*~[/i] (poster #12) use the following bbcode in her signature:
<">You can see some opening and ending tags mismatch there, and when parsed into html it will give errors to the other html tags after it.
The correct format should be:
