It is one of the densest globulars in our Milky Way Galaxy. In Greek myth, the scorpion was sent by Gaia to kill Orion the Hunter, after he threatened to kill every animal on Earth. On late spring evenings, Scorpio becomes visible in the eastern sky, at the same time Orion disappears in the west.
