Komatsu NANA is a 20 year old girl moving to Tokyo to be with her boyfriend, Shoji. they have been apart for a year. she is a tad bit childish and basically self-centered, with a tendency to be guy-crazy, so to speak. Osaki NANA on the other hand is moving to Tokyo to make it big in the music scene. she has left behind her band, the Black Stones or BLAST for short and is hoping to make it as a Solo artist. they meet on the train and part ways upon arriving in Tokyo. However, as the fates or the "Demon Lord" would dictate, they meet once again when in their pursuit of a cheap yet acceptable apartment. they end up as flatmates and so their weird albeit touching friendship starts. soon enough, former BLAST members and new ones join NANA O hoping to make it big against their rival band TRAPNEST (the guitarist of which is NANA O"s ex. ahhhh yes the plot thickens=) this anime/manga has lots of drama about friendships, relationships, jealousy, issues, and has some deep points also i must admit though this is for ages 18+ due to some "scenes" you get my drift..... but still, it's still a great anime/manga and even people who are not interested in anime/manga in the first place get caught up in it's thick and intriguing plot. PS> some facts and trivia. because both girls are named NANA, punk rock NANA O calls komatsu NANA "HACHIKO" or "HACHI" for short. the pun? NANA literally means #7 in japanese.
