Here is a guide how to lock / secure your desktop using a ready made icon for Log-Off... and I find this useful, especially if you suddenly leave a confidentail work without turning off your PC. Make sure you had logged - in to your user account (with your password) when you use your computer. If you don't have your own user account, here is a guide: http://pc-tipstweaks.blogspot.com/search/label/Creating%20a%20User%20Account :D Aside from setting a password on your screensaver, or going to Start, Log-Off or pressing [Windows]-[L], here is another way to log-off. Steps: 1. Right-click on a blank part of your Desktop, select New ►, then click Shortcut. 2. A wizard for Create Shortcut will appear. 3. On the "Type the location of the item", type
rundll32.exe user32.dll,LockWorkStation
4. Click Next 5. Name it as anything you want, I named it at "Lock My Work Station" 6. Click Finish Here is my icon: 7. To chang the icon, right-click on it, select Properties, click on Change Icon..., then click Browse to search for your own icon files, OR.. 8. Under the "Look for icons in this file", just change this:
%windir%\System32\rundll32.exe
, to this:
%SystemRoot%\system32\SHELL32.dll
and click OK. 9. Choose your desire icon and apply changes. To log-off, just simply click on the icon that you had made. Ex.
