His life has changed somewhat since the last time he saw his family. His brother and father have gone missing, and his mother is in a catatonic state. Without much of a lead, he heads towards the eerie town of Silent Hill to find his brother who is the only person who can console his grief and somewhat unusual feelings towards the war. Among others, Akira Yamaoka has said that the story and "theme" of Silent Hill V will be similar to Silent Hill 2. Fans of the series have been quick to notice that Alex's surname, Shepherd, is the same as James Sunderland's wife in Silent hill 2, Mary Shepherd-Sunderland. Perhaps the relation to Silent Hill 2 was more literal than we thought? Or maybe its one of those "connections" between Silent Hills which the fans love. We'll find out soon enough. His view on war is rather unusual. In the E3 2007 trailer, a monologue of a character we assume is Alex says "War is Hell, but there are worse things. War changes you and no body back home could never understand. They never understood me. They say you can't go home again - but they're wrong. I just don't want to." What does this tell us about his character? It seems as though war may have drive him a little insane and is even enjoying the war?[/i] [b]Elle[/b] [i]Age: Alex's Age (?) Occupation: Unknown About: Elle is a long-time friend of Alex. She is said to be "like Maria from Silent Hill 2 she is said to have streetwise sexiness but retains the relatable girl-next-door cuteness of SH3 heroine Heather." It appears she has a history with Alex which might mean that there could be a love story somewhere. So far it is unclear if she will be A.I controlled or actually playable. Obviously inspired by the movie, the nurse will be easy and simple to outwit. They will, however be drawn towards noises which you make by either meerly running, hitting or shooting objects or even knocking into a table and in turn knocking off cups, plates or whatever is on it sending it crashing to the ground will get their attention.[/font] [font="Century Gothic"]Smog[/font] [img]http://silenthill5.net/images/monsters/silenthillvsmog.jpg[/img] [font="Franklin Gothic Medium"]Silent Hill fans will notice how similar Smog is to Silent Hill 2's lying figure. However, it is not quite the same in Silent Hill V. It's appearance, while similar is slightly more unnerving. Instead of being trapped in a bodybag, it looks as though hands from under its skin are trying to pull its mouth open. Smog attacks by inflating its lungs and spewing noxious gasses at Alex in an attempt to poision him. He is a big powerful faster monster, and William Oretel has mentioned in an interview that when Schism spots you it will charge at you, chase you and hunt you down...[/font] [font="Century Gothic"]Siam[/font] [img]http://silenthill5.net/images/monsters/silenthillvsiam.jpg[/img] [font="Franklin Gothic Medium"]Siam is exactly how he/she/it looks, as though it is two mutiliated bodies of a man and a woman mixed in with a bondage/BDSM theme. It is a tall spindely creature with a China Doll like face. It's been said that the game will feature Gears of War style game play similar to that of Resident Evil 4. Resident Evil 5 takes place in a Black Hawk Down-style African village where heat and shade factor into the strategy of the game.
