I believe I understand the proper use of the report button on a members post but would like some clarification as to what should be reported using it. For example if a members siggys is too large or spamming that is a simple report, no brainer. What about multi post of the same code, add-on, layout etc..should that be reported in the same manner? When is it more approciate to PM one of the moderators for the thread? It would be nice if feedback could be given for some of the items reported, but do understand there maybe 100's of reports for the same offense.

well.. i report members with these reasons: +wrong thread +double posting +spamming +large sigs  and as i can see, reporting it will make the mods notice it easily rather than just posting in that topic "WRONG THREAD". But i do say "welcome to ftalk" specially those who have less than 10 posts. =)

There are heaps of reason why a member should use the Report button. I can enumerate and sort them out.
Posts [li]Double/Multiple consecutive posts[/li] [li]Spam/Non-sense/Unreasonable post (less than 3 word post is included)[/li] [li]Posted in a wrong topic or forum section[/li] [li]Obvious of advertising or promoting other sites (exemption: FriendsterTalk and Friendster profiles[/li]

Behaviour [li]Insult/harsh word (or comment) directly or not obvious against another person[/li] [li]Vulgar word or swearing (obvious or not)[/li] [li]Flaming (or fighting or argument)[/li] [li]Disrespect[/li] [li]Post obscene or offensive comment[/li] [li]Post/Use pornographic material[/li]

Technical [li]Large image signature (must not exceed on 200px height)[/li] [li]Double image signatures (exemption: use of one button image together with a usual image banner)[/li] [li]Obvious of advertising or promoting other sites (exemption: FriendsterTalk and Friendster profiles)[/li] [li]Use of pornographic material in avatar or signature[/li] [li]Offensive against other member (example: saying vulgar words or insulting other member using the signature)[/li]
-- Any other points to be added?

Thanks eehjhay..I am getting a better understanding. So bottom line is just use our common sense in reporting such items as previously posted tricks, addons etc... and there is no real reason to pm the mods. The report feature will serve as the notice.

 if there are several links that are similar, PM can be of help. example, there are five threads of same sense, instead of reporting it one by one, i think it is best to PM the moderator of that section. I dunno bout others but i think it can help. =)

Honestly there have been a few times I have submitted a report and no action was taken. It would have been nice to know if I was wrong in submitting it. :paranoid:

Actually using English still depends on the discretion of the members but, I suggest use English because not all moderators are Filipinos/Malaysian/Indonesian and just keep in mind that this forum is an international one... In reporting threads make sure you're reasons or suspicions are related to the wrongly posted thread. Don't use the report button just because you hate the thread starter or the reply, even if the reply is still on track on the topic posted. Just remember not to jump into conclusions and make sure your judgment is correct.

 There are times that there are loads of reports that's why some reports are not attended to immediately. Not all mods can take action in those reports because we only need to zap reports if the report is in our area, so sometimes, reports pile up because the mod of some sections being reported are busy. Don't worry about your reports not being taken action. Actually, it is our daily aim to clear off all reports :ninja:
