I've been standing outside on the balcony of my apartment for the last 2 1/2 hours watching a hostage/stand-off situation right across from me. Snipers posted up on the roof and behind the trees, cops in riot gear, riot shields, guns everywhere. The incident finally ended peacefully with the criminal giving himself up peacefully (after 1 last attempt to run and get away....but they had this fool surrounded, he had only 2 choices left....give up and ensure his safety or try to run and get sprayed with bullets). Thankfully he was one of the "smart" criminals and layed down on the ground and the cops whisked him away without major incident.

^ ^ Yeah. It was pretty wild watching this whole thing unfold just 30 or 40 yards away from me and I'm also glad that nobody got hurt. Surprisingly, this incident was not on the local news. I have no idea what the guy did. They did expect this guy to not go quietly. At one point, one of the snipers who was posted up behind a tree near my balcony turned back to me and first, asked if I knew the guy they were trying to arrest, and then telling me that for my own safety that I should return inside because they suspected that this guy had an assault rifle and that he was going to try to shoot at them. I went back inside for about 5 minutes, then quietly crept back out onto the balcony. Anyway, sorry to hear about your connection troubles....as I'm writing this I see that you are offline so I'm guessing you got disconnected. I've been having connection troubles here, too, so don't feel bad.
