i think there is no easy tutorial how to make overlay specially to the totally noobs because its like building another webpage, if you don't know how to do a simple web page i suggest that you use the pre-made overlay first and understand the concept of overlays. making an overlay and using an overlay is a two different things. but the most important in using or making one is to learn at least basic HTML language. if you want to build a house at least learn how to use a hammer and a saw, there's a lot of tutorial here in making an overlay but the key to understand all of them is to know the tool of the trade which is the HTML.
