This is for those who listen to radio stations via internet streaming using their desktops or laptops. This isnt a problem for those who have smaller gadgets that can be connected to wifi or unlimted

This is for those who listen to radio stations via internet streaming using their desktops or laptops. This isnt a problem for those who have smaller gadgets that can be connected to wifi or unlimted 3G connection or those who could afford the charges for the amount of downloaded data that you will have when you mobilise your radio streaming. Basically this is recording your favorite radio programs via streaming using your pc and a software. What You will need: 1) A desktop/laptop computer 2) recording software like audacity (recommended, also a freeware) 3) Good Internet Connection Steps: 1)Logon to you favorite radio streaming site and play the music. (ie launchcast on yahoo, www.eradioporatal.com, any website with streaming on it most radio stations have their online streaming.) 2)Open audacity, choose the audio input (recording input source either mic or speaker output).. choose the speaker output which is read as waveout mix. 2.1) Press ctrl p (this opens preferences window) 2.2) Focus on Recording part of the window , choose Wavout Mix on the drop down menu 2.3) Click Ok. ***By choosing, Waveout mix uv only set up the software to record the sound that comes from ur computer, where as if you choose the Microphone, the system will capture the noise you make in the background (and that is annoying) 3) click the red dot to record. ****u can leave ur pc recording for hours 4) Once done, click stop. By default your recorded file is saved in the virtual memory as .wav. Audacity can convert this filetype to .mp3 which is compressed to a smaller size but same audio quality. 4.1) By clicking File>Export. 4.2)Then type the name of your file (ie stream) without typing .mp3 (this saves ur file to the default folder prior to where u last saved a file, you can change the folder just like how you do it on MS office apps. (you can directly save it to your mp3 player / gadget if it supports drag and drop method) 4.3) Click save 4.4) Fill in the form that pops up on the screen. This step is optional, if you wish not to fill up, proceed to step 4.5 4.5) Click OK 5) Save your file to your gadget if you havent done it in step 4.2 using copy - paste function or ofr Ipods, use the steps in storing files to your pods (via itunes or winamp) Download Audacity from here Notes: *I have not played around audacity's beta version, the updated sofware may bet set up to save the recorded audio to MP3 by default so feel free to check it out. * If you dont see Waveout mix as a selection in audacity, go to your control panel > sound> recording tab. right click, then a menu appears, choose: Show Disabled Devices. Once the WaveOut Mix appears on the list, right click and click Enable. *WaveOut Mix maybe not be the term used in other operating systems * The DISADVANTAGE (that i dont really care about) is even the commercial / ads are also captured. Remember, please do not use the above steps to sell/ market songs/ prorgram contents without permission from the artists or radio stations. Hope someone finds my share useful.
