[b]1st step:[/b] open your Photoshop.
Create a new document of your image size. For mine, I used 290 x 430.

[b]2nd step:[/b] open your design/image that you want coloured on [u]a new layer[/u]. (Ctrl+Alt+N)

[b]3rd step:[/b] click on a black and white circle icon on the layers window.

[b]4th step:[/b] after clicking it, click on 'Gradient' and select a nice gradient.
