However, as a demon, he cannot act overtly. The first thing he does is force a high school girl to become a detective, while Neuro acts as her assistant. While it appeared to be a mystery series early on, the author has described it as "a straight forward entertainment book wearing the skin of a mystery." As well, Neuro has access to the seven defense weapons used by the Demon Emperor, something very few demons have access to; these weapons are based around natural occurances and elements, presumably, in the demon world. Neuro uses most of these to solve mysteries or to punish their culprits. Using these tools depletes Neuro of his demonic energy however. For instance, in chapter 81, after using Evil Aqua, Neuro suddenly spurts out a large amount of blood due to the lack of demonic energy in his body. She meets Neuro when he appears and desecrates her father's shrine while promising to help solve the mystery of her father's death. This meeting quickly leads to a partnership: Yako becomes Neuro's cover, pretending to be an investigator while Neuro acts as her assistant. Also: Near the end to almost every episode, she points the finger (controlled by Neuro) and in a very dark manner says, "The culprit is.... YOU!" It sounds better in Japanese when she acuses them.
