[align=center]THE HEN AND THE PIG:SPECIAL SACRIFICE[/align] [align=justify]Once upon a time , there live in a farmyard, a pig and a hen. Often, they sat together and discussed matters of great importance. One day the hen told how , while searching for food under the church, she had overheard a sermon. The preacher had reminded his congregation of the obligation each on had to help the poor. fire with zeal, they resolved to run away from the farm, and together, go out into the world to commit radical service to the poor and needy. for many days, they roamed the surrounding countryside meeting with all kinds of excitement, adventure and hardship. However, no one wanted their help and, indeed, on several occasions they were lucky to escape with their lives. Summer gave place to autumn, and nights became colder. Late one evening, the two animals came to a small hut on the bank of a creek. They knocked on the door and a man, who was obviously very poor, opened ot. He offered them warmth and shelter for the night.; these gladly accepted ;but he had no food in the house. They realized that there at long last was someone whose need was great and whom it was in their power to help. as they settled down for the night, the hen told the pig that they should delay no longer in doing something special to supply the needs of the poor man. the pig agreed and the hen went on to point out that each of them would have to be prepared to make a sacrifice.
