If you want a textarea that can't be edited. Insert a [b]readonly[/b] attribute.
[b]e.g.[/b] <text area [b]readonly='true'[/b]>
and I think the text area will still show even if you put "0" number of rows and cols because it always shows on my profile. "0" will probably give you the smallest textarea.
