You cant trust a dial-up connection to stay connected at maximum speeds as it has a tendancy to fluctuate whenever the quality of its connection degrades. But more often than not, this readjustments of speed happens much too early than whats necessary.
Here is a simple guide to keep the entire session stable when it comes to speed.
Click Start > Settings > Control Panel to open the Windows XP Control Panel.
In the Windows Control Panel double click the Phone and Modem Options Icon.
Then click the Tab which is labeled Modems , select your modem and click the Properties button.
Click the Connections tab and proceed through to the Advanced button. In the Extra Settings field, enter S36=7 then click OK to save your settings.
Thats all, Now you could enjoy your Dial - Up connection without any interuption at Good Speed !
