i dont know much abt laptops...
but i heard some laptops was already wifi ready...
means..?
maybe a software was already installed to use wifi
on that laptop...

you just need a wireless router...
i recommend edimax wireless router... its cheap and easy to configure...
but if you have the budget go for linksys...

you need a [b]wireless card or wireless USB[/b] (if your laptop dont have built-in wireless modem) And a [b]wireless router[/b] . Setting up a wireless network is easy. mostly its on the step by step instruction.

Buy a Router and If your laptop is already wireless then you dont need to buy Wireless USB's and stuff. And then theres a guide on how to set it up. Just type in your IP Adress to your browser and the settings thingy will come up where you can edit the security the all them thinngs.

The router is connected to ur internet connection, DSL modem, but allows you to go anywhere within the range of the router without being connected by a cable, thus wireless
Just a word of warning, others with wireless computers can steal ur signal if you do not password protect it based on the the routers setup.

you can surf (anywhere) only within the range capacity of your wireless router. Let say the capacity range is upto 100 feet with obstruction or 300 feet without objects/obstruction.
