Making a person bald with Photoshop is not hard at all. In this tutorial, it will explain the methods to achieve this. These methods are easy to apply on almost every photograph. I recommend that beginners start with photos of men and women where the ears are already visible, because these are much easier.

:idea:We will be using a photograph of Matt LeBlanc, better known as Joey from the American sitcom "Friends".

Step 1
First of all open the photograph you want to work with, obviously. Good! Now the first thing we want to do is duplicate the background layer. Right click the layer in the layers window and pick "duplicate layer" or in the dropdown bar in "layer".

Step 2
Now we can start the real deal. First we have find the shape of the skull. The pen tool should be your best friend because you can keep modifying the skull until the desired and most realistic result is acquired. If it's not then search for a tutorial which covers the basics of the pen tool. Mastered it? Good job. Now, select your pen tool and shape the skull. Sometimes its hard to find but this can still be adjusted in the progress.

Step 3
Once you have finished the path we have to make a selection out of it so that we can start editing. Keep the standard settings (feather 0).

Step 4
So far so good, I hope. Don't worry, he's one step away from losing his precious hair. Make sure your duplicate layer is selected. With the selection still covering his skull, copy (ctrl+c) and paste (ctrl+v) it. If all goes well you should have a new layer with only the part you had selected. We will be working in this newly added layer. But what we first want to do is lock the transparent pixels. By locking the transparent pixels, we can now only manipulate the opaque areas of the layer, wich makes a selection unnecessary. It's the small button right over here...

Step 5
Very good, you made it trough. Now we can start making him bald. With the new layer still active, select the clone stamp tool.
Remove the hair by cloning the skin.

Step 6
Now we have to use the Healing brush tool to smudge to skin tones together.

Step 7
In this last step we'll be using the dodge tool and burn tool to lighten and darken the skin.

And the Final result is:
