So far, Im loving my 1 month old laptop 
. But desktop comps are also good. It actually depends on the situation.
For example, Im an "overnight-downloader". I leave my computer open overnight when i batch-download torrents for movies, animes, or other files that has a large size. So of course, its not advisable to make a laptop to do that. The chips and circuits inside a laptop is near to each other, so overheating is a big tendency.
. But desktop comps are also good. It actually depends on the situation.

if you have college work/assignment, laptop is easier..
but i think desktop are better for addicted gamers.

maybe a mainframe computer

The Thing With a Laptop is that it is portable .. and a desktop pc is not . however a Desktop Mac Can Be Upgraded up to 16 GB of RAM !!! and a typical notebook is only 2GB well i'm More OF A notebook kind of guy hehehe My laptop has only 512 MB ram and A high End Games Cant Be Played Here Like THe Sims . waaa .. it kinda sucks but .. its great

i used desktop pc but sometimes laptop is having some problems like having an error on it, but in terms of use laptop is more usefull specially for those who travel anywhere, for their jobs, office etc... but for those people who have spent time in their house i think desktop pc is very usefull to them, just like me

I think you should go for a desktop computer. It's generally better than a laptop, aside from the fact that you can't bring it around everywhere you go. A desktop computer has easier manageability and is also less fussy.
It is better of course to have both. But I suggest a desktop computer should come first.

a laptop is mobile and so far not everyone has one. Desktops have replaceable modules and won't easily overheat.
Both have their advantages. Having both is better.
That's why I have both.
