The first time I saw the Here Comes the Bride movie trailer at the press conference at ABS-CBN’s Dolphy Theater, I knew that it will be a big hit. Calling the movie hilarious would be a severe understatement. For a movie as good as Here Comes the Bride, a movie review is not difficult to make.
The Here Comes the Bride movie is funny beyond reasonable doubt. Chris Martinez did a very great job in directing the film. With a superb starring cast composed of Eugene Domingo, Tuesday Vargas, John Lapus, Jaime Fabregas, and Angelica Panganiban, Here Comes the Bride made the jam-packed theater laugh tremendously.
There was no dull moment in the movie. What I loved best is that there was equal exposure to the five leads. Nobody outshone another. They were superb at their acting. Aside from the comedic lines, this movie can boast of a fantastic storyline with depth and value. Here Comes the Bride elevated the level of Philippine comedy to a much higher pedestal. Gone are the days where movie goers laugh on silly antics and corny jokes. The humor Here Comes the Bride is quite intelligent.
I also love the underlying values behind every character of this movie. The movie is very hilarious at the superficial level but as you go deeper, you come up with a better understanding that the we find the movie amusing because it is something we can easily identify with. The movie is about swapping bodies to a person you are distantly alike to. The movie’s intelligent humor banks on the smooth transition of characters, which are both on the edge of the spectrum.
