yes + is better and more compatible than - ill try to ask my friends to gain more opinions",

I was wondering what's better to use? Positive or Negative CD/DVD? I have read a lot of topics regarding this, but most of them don't have the answer, just lingering facts and incomplete opinions. Any experiences regarding which is better in terms of burning, recoding and so-on?

since blank dvd and cd are cheap, why dont you buy positive and negative and compare which is more durable in burning! and choose which is more compatible in your dvd writer! based on my experience, i suggest dont buy dvd and cd that so cheap most especially from cdrking! i bought 10pcs dvd and only 2 works. the name of dvd is iomega and i forgot the other one!

I tried experimenting on various dvd players, combo readers and blueray. It seems positive is the way to go. Anyway, I need more opinions. Honestly, this is kind of a thesis that I need to finish.

Re: yes + is better and more compatible than - ill try to ask my friends to gain more opinions",

i recently had this problem when deciding to buy blank DVDs my options were either +R or -R, but after much research, I believe that my conclusion was that -R was the older format meant for the early DVD writable drives :confident: current DVD writers will read & write for either format, while most of the early DVD players and DVD ROM drives up to 2004 only take the standard DVD-R which actually explains alot, now that i think about the times I was having trouble trying to burn CDs around that time as to any other differences, there isn't that much =)

Regarding your question about DVD. It is a little confusing. The positive one is the 1st release version. During the 1st release burner, old DVD only reads positive only. But the later version now can read both positive and negative. But Using definite sign on burnnig will depends on what kind of burning style you will use. whenever it is data file or dvd format video. If you burn video with DVD format video, negative sign is advisable, this include media file like audio and file video. If pure data file like document files, use positive sign. I won't explain more the technical stuff how burner writes on positive and negative sign. Now a days, negative sign is much easier to write. :d

^Dude, that is entirely backwards of what I just posted yesterday
excerpted from: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVD%2BR "When creating DVDs for distribution (where the playing unit is unknown or older), using the DVD-R format is preferable, because most older (up to 2004) standalone DVD video players and DVD ROM drives only support the earlier DVD-R standard."
so the negative one is older :lala:
