Andrew Garfield, 26, has been cast as the new Peter Parker for the next installment in the "Spider-Man" movie franchise, Columbia Pictures announced on Thursday.
Andrew will make his official screen debut as the legendary superhero on July 3, 2012, when the film hits theaters in 3-D.
Production on the film will begin in early December.
Marc Webb, who helmed "(500) Days of Summer," the indie hit which starred Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel, will direct the picture.
The director said in a statement that fans will be pleased with Andrew's casting.
"Though his name may be new to many, those who know this young actor's work understand his extraordinary talents," Marc said. "He has a rare combination of intelligence, wit, and humanity. Mark my words, you will love Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker."

So basically, the new Spider-Man installment will be about rebooting Peter Parker back in high school, right? Developing his powers and all.
Meh. I'm not really a fan of movies if they change the original actor/actress. >__< I mean, yes, they need a younger-looking Peter Parker, but still. Couldn't they just make another movie of Spider-Man that's NOT a prequel? :\ I still want to see Lizard as the villain! Or Carnage. :<

When I saw this on tv. I'm not really impressed at all. Why? After a soo long wait, auditions of some hollywood actors and so onnn, then this is what happened? Sorry but this movie is going to be bomb. Flop.

frankly they know a lot of people love spider man, try to make money out of it

Yeah, that's what I thought so, too. They don't have any idea what to do next. D: But come on, Spider-Man's a comic book character! He has A LOT of villains to face. They shouldn't have much problems making a movie out of him. :\

While Tobey Maguire was only paid $4 million for the first film, it has been reported that was paid $17.5 million plus 5% back-end for Spider-Man 2, and $15 million plus 7.5% back-end for Spider-Man 3. The actor was supposedly offered $20 million plus a small percentage of backend for the Spider-Man 4 which [b]never happened[/b]. You can see how these things get very expensive, with the studio earning less and less as the franchise becomes more and more popular. That is why Sony[b] isn’t hiring big stars this time around.[/b]

As far as I know after Spiderman 2 Tobey Maguire signed 2 more contracts for the Spiderman Series.
Its kinda disappointing cause Tobey played well on all of his roles.
