The first time I saw her was in midst April.
My mother intruded in my room at four in the afternoon. She caught me playing DoTa, my eyes almost crimson for being in front of the computer roughly the whole day, my hair wrinkly and the stuffs in my room all over the place. Of course, she got infuriated. She had her time-consuming speech early that afternoon and to cut it off, I agreed to her over-ambitious idea to attend the Church choir.
I went out of the house with my acoustic guitar in its bag, hanging on my shoulder. It’s the usual summer day and my sweat started to show. I was walking, trying to think where to go since I don’t want to attend the practice. I was part of the group when I was 10 but as I grew older, I knew what I want and it’s not singing with other thirty people. It’s more a solo with my guitar. I know I promised mom to go there but what she doesn’t know won’t hurt her.
Trying to think, a droplet of water rests on my nose. I stopped and noticed that the sky isn’t all yellow without the sun. I looked at it for seconds and the rain showered. It instantly worried me. I tried to cover my self not to get wet while running to the nearest shade.
When I finally got under the tree, I put down my guitar and try to wipe my self with my hankie. As I looked up, a girl in the vintage floral dress came running towards me. She hugs herself and noticed my stare. She smiled. I continued looking.
She took steps back as the rain started to pour harder. I offered my hankie. She stared at me for seconds then took it and swabbed.
For half an hour, we stood there, without any words. We’re just staring at the rain and how it creates worry among people. When it finally stopped, she gave back my hankie and thanked me and left me under the big tree.
I never had forgotten that day. Her small round pretty face lingered in my head. Her aura that gave a little sunshine in the middle of the down-pour is something I carried on with my guitar. I smiled leaving the shade.
It was the first summer rain.
And little did I know that the girl I saw would change my life forever. She made me walk horizontally in the vertical world we have.
This is the tale of our story—a cage of memoirs and wishes phenomenon. Each word is carefully used. I transcribed it with all my heart, my soul and every feeling.
I’m Charles and this is my untold chronicle.
