what brand of laptop are you using bro?
mine is a Acer aspire 5110
I'm a vista user too & i've encounter that problem already.
i cant open applications and my icons on the desktop are not even showing.
what i did is i restore my computer to its original settings
if you still have your laptops manual you can check it the instruction there.
