Most people say it's important but men (who says it is) would attempt to do it before getting married because "I want to know if you still are before I marry you" reason. Girls (who also say it's important) gives in when their BF asks for it because of one reason "I really love him and I will surrender it to him because I know he will never leave me.." (assuming that he's really the one.) Virginity really doesn't matter that much to me, it is not the sole thing that love is based upon.
