I was surprised when I and our manager received a call yesterday regarding the letter from PAPT(Pilipinas Anti-Piracy Team). We just received the letter today. Now we understand why the PAPT called us.
Take a look:(text can be read below the photos):

According to the letter that was sent to my dad,
The PAPT Enforcement against Software Policy is getting more intense
PAPT is composed of OMB(Optical Media Board), PNP(Philippine National Police) and NBI(National Bureau of Investigation)
139 Businesses were raided
85 Businesses were inspected
1686 computers were seized
1144 Business were reported
More raids, corporate rutine inspections and seizures are expected in 2010
To the President
(our company)
Subject: More PAPT raids expected in 2010; Make sure your business is using and distributing Only licensed software to avoid criminal prosecution
In 2009, PAPT conducted over a hundred inspections against businesses allegedly using and selling pirated and unlicensed software in the following areas:
1. Metro Manila
a. City of Manila
b. Makati City
c. Mandaluyong City
d. Muntinlupa City
e. Pasig City
f. Quezon City
g. San Juan City
h. Taguig City
2. Cavite
a. General Trias
b. Rosario
c. Silang
3. Batangas
a. Batangas City
b. Taal
4. Laguna

As the PAPT continuously receives a good number of valuable reports on the use of pirated
and unlicensed software in businesses, PAPT raids and corporate routine inspections
will not stop in the above-mentioned areas. Similar enforcement activities are set to happen in more business
districts across the country as the ongoing PAPT investigation processes
As the PAPT swoops down in your area in 2010, make sure that your office will not be the subject of a PAPT enforcement action
The PAPT raids do not aim to stifle legitimate businesses. Rather, this intensified PAPT enforcement campaign seeks to protect businesses
that operate on the basis legal and fair competition. The PAPT is committed to helping create a vibrant Philippine business community
to attract more investments, promote ingenuity and encourage enterpreneurship among Filipinos.
We would like to remind you that the unlicensed and illegal use of software is violation of the Copyright provisions of the IP Code of the Philippines
(RA 8293) and the Optical Media Act(RA 9239). Violators are subject to criminal sanctions of up to nine years imprisonment and a fine of up to 1.5 Million
In view of the criminal nature of copyright infringement, using unlicensed software may result in
business disruption, lost reputation and serious legal consequences for your organization.
Thus, you should ensure that only original and licensed software is used in your operation.
Thank you for your cooperation.

We are planning to buy 2 OS now. This is a lesson for us.
Will you pay the 1.5 million or buy an cd?
PAPT targets business. How will you know if PAPT will target our pc in our home?
Don't let the law take your laptop.
Are you aware of this?
