First post updated... removed the install the program part. You don't need to install namebench. Just run the program. The only thing to install is the visual C++ 2008 thing-y. 
Anyway, the only technical thing about this is the changing the setting part.
My connection is still a stable 1 MBPS+ for 3 days now thanks to the suggested settings of the program. 
Note that I tried the method above in various ISPs and the recommended settings are really stable.
