You can only donate your own blood if you're:
*at least 18 y/o.
*weight is right (at least 110 lbs. or 50 Kg)
*health is alright (of course w/o any diseases such as STD's, AIDS, etc.)

And some other things too, i haven't researched on that.
To answer the question.
NO. I have not donated blood, but I want to.
The problem with me is, I am sort of anemic as well.
Well that's a big problem, no chance in that.
So I decided to donate my organs instead (if they still work fine).
I told my friend who has a heart problem..
That she can have mine IF something happens to me.

You will also benefit if you donate blood coz your body will produce a new generation of RBC's (blood) that'll make feel much younger and active again though I know this benefit I still haven't donated a blood ... 
... maybe somewhere in the future I will and don't just donate blood anywhere coz it's risky too you may get diseases if the needle is contaminated..
