I waited till God knows when. Nakatunganga lang ako sa telephone and paulit-ulit na binabasa ang mga numbers na nasa buttons. Crap. Pumuti na siguro ang mga mata ko sa kakahintay, the phone didn't even bother to ring.. moreover, he didn't even bother to give me a ring.. [i]again[/i]. So ayun nga, can you believe it? Nakatulog ako sa floor sa kakahintay ng tawag niya. Crap. Early in the morning, I woke up to go to school. Thank God it's Friday. Pagkatapos nitong araw na to, weekend na and my brother's gonna come home for his 19th birthday. Yipeee! Bea still doesn't know about it, surprise nalang. She's having her birthday rin naman next week. That geek will be very happy. "Geek!" She called me. By the way, that's what we call each other, 'geek'. I looked at her and smiled. "Good morning." Bati ko sa kanya. "Birthday na ng Kuya mo this Sunday." She grinned. "Hindi siya uuwi." I said and went on my way. "Oh come on! Why not?! Of course uuwi siya. Lagi naman siyang umuuwi pag birthday niya diba?" "Noon yun. Wala pa siyang kasama sa Singapore eh. Pero ngayong may girlfriend na siya, hindi na siya uuwi." The sadness was in her face. "And.. that'll save you from the pain, geek." I tapped her back and smiled. "Y-yeah." She said and frowned. "Anyway, pakibigay nalang to sa kanya." She handed me a red box. "Sure." I grinned. "Wag mong bubuksan iyan ha?!" "Oo naman." After nun, pumasok na kami sa class namin. Then someone passed me a note. 'Are you and Rhys Romualdez going out?' I looked at Trish kung sa kanya talaga nanggaling. She shook her head and looked at Gabby. "K-kay Gabby galing?" "Yeah. Pinasa lang sakin." Napatingin ako kay Gabby na nakikinig sa teacher namin. Doesn't look like it's from her. "Pakisabi nalang sa kanya na hindi." I whispered to Trish and binulong niya rin sa mga katabi niya na ipasa daw kay Gabby ang 'hindi' from me. Gabby just smiled at me. Nung hapon na, lumabas na ako ng school dahil wala raw meeting ang Student Council. So ayun, paglabas ko, I saw Rhys standing at the front gate smiling at me. I froze and paused to think.. 'anong ginagawa ni prince charming ko dito?' Although I got disappointed kagabi that he didn't call back, I still can't help myself from getting kilig all over him because of the speculation na baka hinihintay niya ako. "Hey." He smiled. I looked at him na para bang naiinis ako sa kanya. Crap Yana. Wala kang karapatang mainis dahil hindi ka naman niya girlfriend and all. Crap. I gave him a faint smile. "I was waiting for you. Tagal mong lumabas." And my speculation didn't disappoint me. I smiled to myself. "Why would you wait for me naman?" I said calmly. "Hindi pa ba obvious?" Obvious? I looked at him confused. Obvious ang ano? He looked at me and sighed. "Anyway, I called your house last night." Bigla naman akong nawalan ng gana. Oo, tumawag ka and sabi mo kay Mommy tatawag ka ulit. Kulang nalang iwanan ako ng kaluluwa ko sa kakahintay sa tawag mo. "Yeah. Mom told me." I smiled faintly again. "Did she tell you na I'd call back?" "Y-yeah." And you didn't. "Well.. I did call you back. Pero busy eh. Were you using the phone? Or baka ginagamit ng parents mo? I tried many times." O_O I stood there frozen. Oh come on, anong pinagsasabi mong busy? Kunwari ka pa.. just tell me na di ka talaga tumawag. "B-busy?" "Yeah. I was dialing your number since 8:30 in the evening. Nung mga around 9:30 na, I stopped kasi it's kinda late na to call you. Baka pagalitan ka and ano. So.." "I was beside the phone whole-" He looked at me. "I mean.. the phone was in my room.. and.." "Extension?" "Y-yeah." "Baka hung-up sa main connection." OH SHOOT. Riiiiigggghhhttt. So he did try to call me. "Anyway, may sundo ka ba?" I looked around to see if dumating si Manong Ernie. Pero wala eh. Then I checked my phone and ayun nga, a text from my Mom. 'sweetie, commute na muna. i used the car for a vry imprtnt errand. take care. or sma ka nlng ky bea.' -mom Nagreply lang ako ng okay. When I turned around, andun si Rhys nakangiti sakin. RED ALERT. Natutunaw na ako. "W-wala. Mom used the car daw for a very important errand." I said and started walking towards the train station. "Tara." He held me by the hand and hinila niya ako. Napatingin ako sa kamay ni Rhys na nakahawak sa kamay ko. O_O Gaaaa. Ang init ng mga kamay niya. Hanggang nakaabot kami sa train station. Nang makita niyang hawak-hawak niya ang kamay ko, bigla niya itong binitiwan. And naging awkward na kaagad ang situation. "P-pasensya na. Hindi ko nama-" "Ayos lang. Tara." I smiled and went on the train. Tahimik kaming dalawa and nung bumaba na kami, sumakay kami sa bus at bumaba ulit sa harap ng village na tinitirhan ko. "Again.. I'll take it from here. Thanks." I smiled. "Nahhh. Hatid na kita. Baka ano pa mangyari sa iyo diyan." He insisted kaya.. why not? Nung naglalakad na kami, di ko maexplain nararamdaman ko. It feels like I'm scared na parang nahihiya. "Ok ka lang ba?" He asked habang naglalakad kaming dalawa. "O-okay lang." I smiled. "Nga pala, nasan ang bahay nio rito?" "Oh. Sorry." I led the way and he followed. So yun nga. "Here." We stopped at the front of our gate. He just looked at me and the house.. then at me.. then at the house. "S-something wrong?" "Wala lang." He chuckled. "Anyway, go inside na." "Yeah. Thanks." I smiled again. Pumasok na ako sa gate and.. then he called my name again. "Yana!" "Hm?" "Just please.. don't stress yourself too much kung bakit ko to ginagawa sa iyo. You'll figure it out soon."
