Have you ever noticed that a lot of Filipino nurses travel abroad? I also have noticed that they're slowly forgetting their home. The Philippines. I am one of those people. Me, I love the Philippines!! I moved to the U.S. when I was 9 then I turned 2 weeks later. Now, I'm 12 and turning 13 in 2 weeks. I noticed that they're also forgetting their culture. Besides food, they crave more foreign merchandises. A digital camera here, an Ipod over there, at least 2 flat screen tvs in almost every house.... We forget the people living in the Philippines who barely have the money to buy food. Yet here we are spending all our money away like we don't have a care in the world. I'm just asking, what's your opinion about this? I'm not implying that we are this. I'm just saying that we slowly forget. We still remember but we don't think about it.

Well as for culture-wise, it's just practical to think about our nation & contribute what we could. I understand that from your point of view, it doesn't really justify all people who have traveled abroad & forgotten about their nation. Us being a collectivism, because of our culture, it's also a selfish thing to go apart from your fellow filipinos. So, one can argue that: it is seemingly, those people who spend much of their money for their "leisure" suppose to the people in the nation -left behind with barely any food on their table- must be reverted by those who can afford 2 flat screen TV's. Concerning the fact that the way of living is different, there are also lots of sacrifices filipino have to make in order to provide to their family in the philippines from abroad. What I'm saying is, filipinos might not talk about it all the time, they might not say how much they miss their homeland, they might not provide much for their homeland but i'm pretty damn sure, if you're born filipino: you know enough to NEVER forget or be ashamed that it is YOUR HOMELAND and it will stay that way -no matter how many flat screen TV's you've got in your house.

But there is thing that I don't know how can I explain, but It just like sounds what the thread starter says. Sometimes Filipinos just go with the flow over here in U.S. because of the way we live here, not like in the Philippines.

^ spoiled, maybe. I guess you can point out to some teens. As for the adults, I'm sure their intentions are initially to give a better tomorrow for their family. Honestly this issue probably suits, not only filipino families/individuals, but other nations aswell. to me it sounds like what those people work for are not deserving to get the luxury they get. These people strive for what they earn and rewarding themselves. It's sounds to me as if one should be guilty for being luxurious like it's from a crime. But I guess i can't really justify this for all filipinos cause I'm no psychic/political sci expert or whatever. Just want to clear that there are ups and downs in both worlds, only the other side is obsolete, i guess
