We talked about this pack on another forum and someone suggested I use BricoPack. BricoPack versions are much much better, as shown in these screenshots below. I'm currently using this and it's better and safer than Vista Transformation. I've been tweaking the dock, adding shortcuts and changing logos. If you like to get a theme for your windows you may visit: http://www.crystalxp.net/bricopack/ Vista Inspirat and LongHorn are my picks. They look slick, and the graphics are very good. Has a MAC OS feel to it.. If you'd like to share another website that offers Free Themes, Please post your links and better yet a screenshot of the themes you want to share.

Hehehe, I know what you mean Mizel.. :D But in case you want to try it, ask assistance (para walang magalit). After installing BricoPack Vista Inspirat.. i noticed the 'glass effect' wasn't included. What I did was installed Glass2k (a small 54kb program). And here's the result below. It looks so much like Windows Vista now! I don't like the default font of Windows Vista, which is Segoe UI. I like the old Windows XP font, so I kept the Tahoma font, much easier to read. Click on the image to see a better preview (1024 x 768). :D

^ Hmmm.. it didn't eat much space as I expected. Careful uninstalling the program when you're tired of it though. It's always safe to uninstall on SAFEMODE. You can get the glass effect here: http://chime.tv/products/glass2k.shtml

Vista Transformation Pack 6.0 Vista Transformation Pack will give to your Windows XP system the new and cool look of M'zoft's future operating system: Windows Vista. The pack changes most of the system icons, skins and toolbars and also adds new enhancements to your desktop such as a dock bar or a different system tray clock. It is free and does a great job of giving machine a look similar to Vista. It does have uninstallation options in case you decide you want to get rid of it, so there really isn’t anything to lose. However, when you install the software it has to overwrite some system files (it modifies things like the boot screen) so Windows will prompt you stating that your system files have been changed. It will ask whether you want to change them back or leave them, so just leave them if you want the system to function properly. ^ I posted about that pack here: http://theftalk.com/t1466-Windows-Vista.html After uninstalling it and used BricoPack it left my desktop looking much better. It seem features from both skin were incorporated, nice effect! Sadly I've re-formatted my PC 2 weeks ago. Hehe!

^ i agree. id prefer the BricoPack than VTP6. its much more 'vista-looking' than the latter. and i tried using the Brico skin on a slow machine (128mb ram, 1.1Ghz Celeron) and i was surprised that it didnt cause a laggish effect on it. =)

I just got rid of BricoPack and used a new software. I get bored easily, I tried WindowBlinds this time, I like it. It's easy to use and customize. Here's what my desktop looks now, with the blurry glass effect. It's not perfect cos I didn't get everything for the pack, but it looks okay. The skin is inspired by Aero Glass Vista, but it looks different. TOOLS: WindowBlinds (click here) MoonFlower Skin (click here) Here's the perfect look for this theme. Click the image below to view the actual version. @Charles I was wondering too cos most of the screenshots has Quezon City on the sidebar. So I thought maybe the developer of the skin is Filipino. The name "Kaye Irene" surely is a girl, maybe she is Cebuana, hehe. This runs alright on my computer, have no problems with WindowBlinds. The skin has a bug though, the log off button looks weird when I mouse-over it. But this skin looks slick and clean unlike other Aero Glass skins. @Eki If you want to use the skin I recently posted above (MoonFlower), you need WindowBlinds. Get the 'latest' WindowBlinds you can get, I used version 5.10 (Enhanced). Below is the requirements needed to run WindowBlinds. You just about made it, go try. System Requirements: Windows XP/2003 and Windows Vista (Starting with WindowBlinds 5.5) 1GHz or faster processor recommended 60MB free drive space 256MB RAM

ADDITIONAL INFO...... Change your Windows XP theme to look like Vista using MSStyles (no shell-packs) Plus you don't need to download any software to do it either (so your computer won't get messed up!). You can do it all by yourself and when you are done it is surely going to look like Windows Vista. sample screenshot ... 1) Changing the XP theme First make sure that you have patched up your uxtheme.dll file. 1. Okay first you need to find out which Service Pack you are running. To do this simple press the Windows flag key+Pause/Break key. This is going to open the system properties window. Here it is going to say which service pack you are running 2. Now you have some downloading to do. First get: The appropriate Uxtheme.dll file If you are running Service Pack 1 then get this file. If you are running Service Pack 2 then get this file. 3. Unzip the file to your desktop 4. Now you need to download the Replacer(I recommend getting a stable version). The replacer efficiently replaces your system files and is supposed to be completely safe. This program also backs up your file in case you need to revert the changes. 5. Unzip the Replacer to your desktop. Make sure you read the "readme" because it has some important tips on how to revert those changes that you made. Now you are ready to replace your uxtheme.dll file 1. Now double click on the replacer file (replacer.cmd) 2. Then it will ask you to drag and drop the original system file you want to replace. So go to the System32 folder and somewhere near the bottom you are going to see the uxtheme.dll file. Drag and drop it into the window. Note: your computer may have more than 1 uxtheme.dll file but usually the file that you computer is using is the one in the system32 folder. (usually the location for your Uxtheme.dll file is C:\WINDOWS\system32\uxtheme.dll) 3. Press Enter 4. Then it will ask you to drag the file you want to replace. Open the folder with the downloaded file and drag and drop the file into replacer. 5. Now it will ask you to confirm that you want to replace the files or not. So double check and then press enter. Replacer will now swap your original file with the new one. Now restart your computer. Congratulations you can now use custom msstyle themes on your computer. Which is going to make your computer look super cool! There are many msstyles themes out there that look like vista/longhorn. I suggest to go to this link for some themes. You can also find more themes in www.deviantart.com. So... go ahead and download it. Then unzip or copy it to C:\WINDOWS\Resources\Themes All right now you can change your computers theme to the Vista theme you chose. 2) Changing the Wallpaper There are lots of Vista wall papers available... you may just use the power of google for that.. :D 3) Changing the cursor You can download the aero cursor pack over here. Just read the read me file supplied and enjoy. 4) Getting Vista-ish applications Get the TopDesk application. TopDesk is a quick and easy way to switch between applications. With a single key press, you can instantly view thumbnails of all open windows, display thumbnails of windows belonging to the current application, or hide all windows to quickly access the desktop. Get it or read more about it here. Unfortunately this is onli a trial version... i got mine from demonoid.com w/c uses torrents for downloading... if u can find a full version of it, better. If u find it hard looking for the full version.... jaz pm me in my ym (tikboy_86) :D and i would gladly send the file to u... YOU CAN ALSO ASK :P `mizel :P for the TopDesk coz i olredi gave her a copy of it (if im offline in ym) sample screenshot... Get the LClock application LClock is a very simple program that makes the Windows' clock look like a Windows Longhorn Clock. Get it or read more about it here. sample screenshot... (optional) for Firefox users get some vistaic firefox theme... heres the one im using. sample screenshot... credits goes to tech-recipes.com and deviantart.com... from the screenshots... i also use some objects and widgets using some stardock applications.. those are optional coz ull be needing softwares that aren't free... (but i got mine for free.. downloaded from demonoid.com) feel free to learn more here.. :wallbash:
