i use several (yahoo, hotmail, g-mail, etc.). if one is down, i have alternates. you can never tell if they are down whem you most need them.

I use AIM (Aol Instant Messenger)
I kinda like it's junk/spam filter.
And how you can use it on microsoft outlook
