She’s in my class.” Chiles is the hottest chick in school. Well, she doesn’t seem like a flirt, but she is really someone guys will drool over on. “And also Paul Jake Maniago. Oooh. That guy you had eyes on.” She said. Binatukan ko nga. “I don’t have my eyes on him, and you know why.” “Sus.” “MARJ.” I gave her a stare, ngumiti siya. “Sabi ko nga hindi na e…” Then she chuckled. Umiling ako, and as I looked to the right. I saw Kent. Dang. He still looks so rebellious. “Look at that guy, Marj.” “San?” Tinuro ko si Kent. “Yun o. How do you see him?” She smiled. “He’s cool.” I acted as if I’d puke. “Cool pa nga. Are you blind or something? Ilang beses ko nang sinita yang suot niya. Hindi ako malalahal sa President kung hindi ko rin siya kaya.” I looked around again, and then I saw Paul Jake. He really looks mature and nice guy. He bumped to a girl and her things fell on floor. He picked it up for her and handed it to her with his smile. Napangiti ako. He’s somehow really different from how I see other guys. “Heey. You’re looking at Paul Jake.” “Oo… Masama ba? He’s the student council president of the other school btw.” “Then you two…?” I nodded. “Oo. We’ll work together as partners. Though I dislike it, wala rin akong magagawa, besides, he seems like a nice guy. I told him how I hate boys, pero wala naman sakanya. He offered himself as a friend pa.” Marj grinned. “He’s such a nice guy.” I nodded. “Nga e.” -- I was walking along the corridor carrying some stuffs for next class nang pagdungaw ko sa bintana, there was a fight going on. I rushed downstairs papunta sa gilid ng building. “Hoy! Anong ginagawa niyo?!” I yelled. Hindi ako pinansin. Wait, these guys are from the lowest section at ang kaaway nila— “KENT?!” I exclaimed. “Hey, Ms. Pres.” They continued fighting na parang hindi ako nakikita. “S-Sabi nang… TAMA NA EEEHHHHH!!!!!” I yelled with all my might at natigilan sila. “Anong problema dito?!” “We’re just having fun.” Kent said. There were three guys against him, and they’re just having fun?! “Tsk.” One of the guys said. “Takbo!” They rushed away at naiwan si Kent. I walked to him sabay batok. Bugbog ang itsura niya and he was seriously dirty. Binatukan ko nga. “Ano ka ba?! First day na first day mo ganyan agad ang ginagawa mo?!” “It’s not first day, tsaka bat mo ako binatukan?!” “Tanga ka ba? Paano kung mapatawag parents mo? Alalahanin mo na rin si Paul Jake na pinsan mo!” “Wala akong pakielam dun. Sus. Wala akong pakielam kung matawag ang parents ko o hindi.” I clicked my tongue sabay batok ule sakanya. “Aray anu ba-?!” “E di alalahanin mo yang sarili mo! Tingnan mo nga yang mukha mo, puro galos… Tsk. Anong sasabihin natin sa makakakita sayo?” “E di wala.” Nasapo ko ang nook o then I held up his chin to see his face. “Ang dami mong sugat o…” “A-Aray.” “Let’s go to the student council room. Dali.” -- He sat down on the couch. “Good thing your cousin isn’t here. Baka pagalitan ka nun.” “Oo nga. Tsk. He’s like a Father to me. Wew.” “Mabuti nga mag nag aalala sayo.” I was taking the med kit inside my drawer that time. “Pfft. Ayoko nga.” “Bakit ka nga ba napaaway ha?” I asked habang hinahatak yung upuan papunta sakanya. I took out the cotton buds and band aids, pati alcohol. “Anong gagawin mo?” He asked. “Malamang gagamutin yung sugat mo. Move closer.” I told him. “Ayoookooo. Mahapdi yan.” He said. Natawa ako. “Di ka nga takot sa away tapos dito takot ka? Gusto mo ulit ng batok?” I poured alcohol on the cotton buds tapos dinampi ko sa mukha niya. “A-Aray!” “OA mo.” I continued doing it, and I noticed that he was staring at me. “Anong tinitingin tingin mo?” I asked. “Wala. Ahaha. Ask lang, siguro may gusto ka na sakin noh?” He teased me. I glared at him. “Joke time.. Hehe. Wag mo ko babatukan uli.” Napailing ako. “Seriously, bakit ka ba napaaway?” I asked him. He became serious. He leaned back to his seat. “They said things about a girl I like…” “A girl you like?” I asked. Whoa, so this guy also a girl she likes. “Oo… Tsk. Basta. Hirap iexplain.” “Sino ba siya?” He stared at the center table. “Secret.” “Pfft. Okay.” “Pero kung pipilitin mo ‘ko sasabihin ko.” Natawa uli siya. I shook my head. “Wag na. I’m not interested.” “Hey, Ches, pwede ako mag stay muna dito sa room?” He asked. “Bakit naman?” I asked as I started to put the alcohol into his face again. “Kasi baka masita ako. Andumi ko na e.” I gave a sigh. “Ou na. Basta wag mo na lang sabihing pinalampas ko ‘tong kabalbalang ginawa mo. Think of it as a welcome gift.” He smiled. “Thanks.” I took the band aid. “Here.” As I put it onto his face, the door opened, and there was PJ. “Kent… Cheska.” “Heey.” I greeted sabay lagay nung band aid. “There, wag ka nang gumawa ng gulo pwede?” Tumayo kaming dalawa ni Kent. “Bakit nandito kayo?” He asked. “E kasi ‘tong pinsan mo e… Wag mo n asana siyang isumbong.” “Napaaway ka nanaman?” Paul Jake asked. Kent nodded while smiling. “But no need to worry, Cheska will help me out.” “You shouldn’t trouble her.” Paul Jake said. Ngumiti lang ako. “It’s okay. It’s okay. Wag kang magalit. This is just a welcome gift-slash-help para sakanya.” I looked at Kent. “Sige, una na ako.” “Alright. Cutting classes muna ako.” Napailing ulit ako. -- After the council meeting para sa upcoming nutrition month, Paul Jake asked me for snacks. Tutal pauwi na rin naman ako, why not di ba? “San napunta si Kent?” Paul Jake asked. I shrugged my shoulders. “Ewan ko. Bigla nawala e.” I answered tapos pumasok kami sa ministop. He brought Chillz and Kariman tapos naupo na kami. “Sorry nga pala sa pag abala niya.” He said. “Hindi, okay lang. I was thinking of getting a little nicer to him, baka magbago ang sense of fashion niya at sumunod na rin siya sa prescribed uniform.” Paul Jake chuckled. “Hope so. Yun pa.” “Hindi mo ba siya kaya?” I asked. He drank his Chillz. “Hindi naman sa hindi kaya… But there’s something that probably makes him hate me.” Ininom ko rin yung akin. “You don’t seem to be a bad guy… So… What can be it?” “I can’t tell sa ngayon.” He chuckled. “I see.
