Well, I have encounter this lately. I was about to save on windows or program files folder but it is on write protect mode. I'm using an admin account which is our default account. But the IT did something on our station. So I can't hide my media files and I can't find the settings. Did I miss that settings, I can't find it on services.msc and gpedit.msc. Btw, I can install some programs but I can save some files. Which I mean Installer are valid but other files are not.

Possible solutions. Try one after another if the first fails... [li]Try this on cmd. C: locksys:off[/li] [li]Check the bios for write protect option and turn it off... if it doesn't have any. Ignore this.[/li] [li]Fix the jumper on the HDD. [/li] [li]Remove the HDD for 1 hour and after restard. chkdsk it through cmd.[/li]

Well, I have try the 1st two suggestion for my problem but nothing happens. Also the 1st one cannot recognize the command. And also, I can't do the last 2 suggestion because I might be terminated If I will do it. About the 1st one, is there any command on cmd I can lock off the windows and program file folder?

Just making sure of the problem. You can install programs... but the hidden files with the with hide as system file properties is disabled? Edited: Check the drive itself through properties... because maybe it's on read-only mode. Make sure the radio button is only marked with a green square or unmark, not checked. <- The file attributes. Also. C: locksys:on or C: lcoksys:off command on cmd works. You should type it as the same way I typed it. If it doesn't the IT dept really doesn't want you guys to enjoy your work @-).

Well, here is the update from my question. Okay, the command for CMD C: locksys:off is working. But still the Program files and Windows is in write protected. Then I found out the IT disable the gpedit.msc but the services.msc is not. Also, file sharing is disabled. Also, media player is disabled. I guess the IT really don't want to enjoy our work. Ha3...

yes, it is also disable. I'm thinking how the IT manage to hide all the system if we are using the admin account.

Hmm... tricky IT staff. :lol3: Imma try to research so I can learn to reverse engineer it. Anyway, the only alternative solution I can provide you is to use portable apps. http://portableapps.com/

Updates:

Updates: Ephemeral wrote [?]: Hmm... tricky IT staff. :lol3: Imma try to research so I can learn to reverse engineer it. Anyway, the only alternative solution I can provide you is to use portable apps. http://portableapps.com/ Still I can't used it... beacuse the USB is disabled. If I activate it, my problem is the detection properties which will ping to IT staff.. ha3... I'm having an headache in this problem :wallbash:

Okay, This is the final I have found out. Services.msc, regdit, and dxdiag is enable but gpedit.msc is not. But, some services are also restricted like the messenger. Also, file sharing (folder) are also not available even the file sharing wizard. I tried many ways including the command locksys:off. Even applying it on folder using CMD. Yes, I have enable the USB port and the plug and play but browsing is restricted. Even, I try to access it on cmd using dir command, it is also restricted. Are IT is very clever restricting all important services, and I also find out that it something to do to symantic end point protocol. I'm trying to disable it temporary but it is useless.
