I hate to sound like this... That's the effect of listening to low quality junk on your local radio. There are many great Filipino Artist. The only problem is... You're listening to the wrong radio station. =D Try to fine A Class music stations or buy a CD of our OPM Artist. Hilera, Slapshock, Itchyworms, Nyoy Volante, Julliane... arhg so many to mention.
Rihanna's umbrella= Ms. Ganda's Payong
I never heard of that song. =D I think the one who altered that song isn't familiar with... Getting sued. About originality. Of course we have it! The problem is some tend to look the wrong place. :penguin:

"payong payong eh eh eh" ... im sorry but ROFL! that was great. so much for fye music. It is a little embarrassing how filipinos can butcher an original non OPM songs but think of it as our culture.. we love to have fun and being silly.. & it's not like anyone's saying it's better than the original.. that's when you react =P

well.. the music industry in the country is slowly dying, and I think, as long as they can make good music, its not an issue whether or not, it is a rendition or an original..;)

As I can see right now, most Filipinos like international music better. So the local music industry is not fine. Renditions are okay, its a process where add twists to our songs.

It really depends if you know what to listen to. Some people are too commercialize that's why they tend to be too high class to find and listen to their own kind of music.

Nope!!!, Don't even try copy the tones, cause It's just making Filipinos to be a copier, so I wish, we make our own song again!!, For Filipinos.

okk.. its not that I want them to copy the style and tune of the songs.. my point is, whether or not it is a rendition, we should be kind to them for showing such talent..:D

I agree that OPM is not original. Like, since when did they become so original? Way, way back, I appreciate the older songs from bands like Eraserheads, Parokya Ni Edgar and Wolfgang. They might be influenced by Western Music but "Revives" are a rip. Same to other singers right now. I only appreciate Yeng Constantino's songs than any other. Although punkish, but still original.

Re: well, today, the rendition of international songs to "tagalog" is uber popular. what can you say about this? example: Rihanna's umbrella= Ms. Ganda's Payong is translating english songs to tagalog

Sorta speaking... Yeng Constantino has a Avril Lavigne appeal now a days. :penguin: Anyway there's Julliane, Nyoy Volante, Slapshock, Hilera, Gloc 9, Parokya Ni Edgar, Bamboo, Kamikaze, URBANDUB, Sitti and so many to mention... Our music isn't dying due to the fact we still win music awards around the globe. The problem is, people tend to listen to low class crappy music because the radio station has nothing to offer. They keep playing song parodies of foreign artist that has a negative effect to our country's status regarding music. Just for the info... I am not saying our media regarding radio serves is bad music ok? But some do...
