We just kept on standing, looking at each other’s eyes. I realized I was wasting my time here, doing unnecessary things. I blinked and began to speak so that I could replace me dress with the new one immediately. “Aries, we’re just–I mean, I want you to…” I covered my face with the dress. This is so embarrassing. “I want you to… G-Go outside. Because–” He stood and started laughing. I know, that was what I was actually expecting. “I need privacy. If you won’t give me that thing, I would be kicking your butt til the end of the day.” “Just kidding,” he chuckled, “I just thought of you, taking your clothes off, in front of–” “PERVERT!!! I thought hihintaying pa niya ang sex scene, yun pala kiss lang. I felt relieved na tuloy. Nakalabas na rin kami ng mall, and then sinagap ko lahat ng fresh air na biglang sumalubong sa mga muka naming. Let me take that shirt off, love. Like, hello? I don’t want to hear that phrase anymore, pero it got stuck on my head already. Yung parang, LSS? Gee. I’m not even yet eighteen for me to hear that. Anyway, I’m not interested about those things; it doesn’t give me goose bumps either. All I know is, they’re icky. Aries drove me home. He knew that Martin would be angry if we would arrive at home, late. “Pwede ba akong pumasok?” Sabi niya and opened the door for me. “Sure, dad won’t mind naman eh,” I smiled. We entered the house at ang una naming narinig ay yung mga napakalakas na mga boses ng mga matatandang lalake. Kaya naman, biglang pumasok sa isip ko, damn it, who the hell is here? “Margaret!” Auntie Dae appeared from nowhere and suddenly embraced me. “Hi,” I smiled, “What’s going on? Are you having a party or what?” Aries suddenly squeezed my hand. “Yes that’s right. Didn’t you know? Your father was promoted awhile ago. That’s why we’re here,” she chuckled and turned to Aries–who was still squeezing my hand. “Onga pala. This is Aries, my classmate,” I said and then Aries immediately smiled at her. “Classmate? Oh, hi there Aries. I thought he’s your… boyfriend,” she said slowly. “Auntie naman?” “I was just kidding. Naalala ko lang kasi mom mo.” We went to the Dining Room and found Dad, laughing. It's so good to see him like that, again. Matagal na rin kasing hindi humahalakhak ng bonggang-bongga si Dad. We caught his attention. “Ah, the son of San Alvaro,” he pointed his fingers on Aries. Aries immediately sat down. Gusto na talagang pumikit yung mga mata ko that time, kaya naman I left them there, partying all night long. I mean, marami kasing kwento si Dad–corny man o seryoso–hinding-hindi siya titigil sa kakakwento. Nagpalit na rin ako ng damit, then I laid down on my bed. Napatingin nalang din ako sa ceiling, pumasok na naman sa isip ko yung Taekwondo competition. I want to join, but then I don’t have enough money. “Darn competition,” I pouted as I threw my slippers on the door. I went there to pick it up again, pero may narinig ako. Syempre, in response, I would eavesdrop. “I got to go now, Uncle. Ariadne is still waiting for me,” Aries said softly. “Take care, son. Say hello to Armando for me.” “Sure. Can I enter Margaret’s room for a while? I need to talk to her, may group project po kasi–” “Go ahead.” Naku. Papasok siya? Pumunta agad ako sa kama, then I pulled my blanket. I was waiting for him to knock the door, pero wala eh. Bigla nalang niyang binuksan yung door knob. I closed my eyes because of immediate nervousness. I was trying to breathe evenly, pero hindi ko ma-manage na gawin yun. He sighed, he came closer. Feeling ko tuloy nabubugbog yung heart ko. Ang bilis kasi. Now, I can smell his perfume, his breath. Five more seconds and I’m going to open my eyes. Five, Four, Three– “If you just knew how beautiful you are when you’re sleeping…” he sighed, “…that makes me love you more and more,” he said softly and leaned closer to me. His spiky bracelet suddenly stabbed me on my tummy. It made me move in response– reflex reaction. My conscience warned me, keep your eyes close, Margaret.
