I went up to my room and looked at myself in the mirror. Naka-make up na ako and nkaayos na ‘yung buhok ko. Will I really be Cinderella tonight? I looked at my gown and smiled. I wore it and looked at myself in the mirror once again. I got my answer. I definitely will be. “Not bad Steph. Lalo ka pa lang maganda ‘pag nag-ayos ka,” Nathan said as he peeked from my bedroom door. “Anong kailangan mo?” “Uhm, can you help me with the cotillion? Ako kasi ‘yung pumalit sa partner ng batch representative natin.” “Oh, oo nga pala. Na-confine ‘yun sa ospital. Teka, magaling ka naman sa sayaw ah. Bakit magpapatulong ka pa?” “Well, uhmm, nagiging stiff ‘yung katawan ko kapag waltz.” Si Rocel ‘yung batch representative namin. She’s really nice and not to mention pretty. Akala mo lang mataray siya sa una, pero mabait ‘yun. Anyway, hindi naman magiging stiff si Nathan kung hindi siya naiilang sa partner niya. Bakit naman siya maiilang ? Isa lang hula ko. “Wah! Crush mo si Rocel!” “Secret lang ‘yan Steph.” “Haha, nakahanap ka ng katapat mo noh?” “Sige na, tulungan mo na lang ako.” I helped him with the dance and after thirty minutes, okay na siya. An hour later, dumating na si Lawrence and we rode in his car. Kwentuhan session kami until we reached the venue. “Steph, what time kita susunduin?” Lawrence asked. “Before midnight. Panindigan na natin ang pagiging Cinderella ko.” He agreed and drove off. Then, we went to the ball. “Whoa, dude, ang ganda mo!” bati ni Tristan sa’kin. Tapos bigla siyang siniko ni Meg. “Siyempre maganda siya, bestfriend ko ‘yan eh.” We both smiled at d’un dumating si Dervin. “You’re really beautiful, Steph,” Dervin said. “Naman. Magkakagusto ka ba sa’kin kung hindi ako maganda?” I responded with a laugh. He took my hand and we sat beside each other. Fast forward, okay naman ang cotillion, maayos. In fairness, hindi masyado naging stiff si Nathan. I was glancing at him and mukhang kinikilig siya sa partner niya. Although honestly, I was having my own kilig moment too, with Dervin. Sa program, na-recognize din kaming dalawa as team captains kasi this year for both girls and boys, champion sa sports league ang basketball. Yes!!! After all the program and eating stuff, it was an all-night dance na. A slow music played. “Remember me this way,” ‘yung theme song ng Casper. Here I am, I even promised we would be together. What a lie!” He let go of me and I ran towards the exit. I called Lawrence and good thing, dumating siya agad. I was crying near the parking lot. Para akong batang iniwan ng nanay niya. “Goodness Steph, what happened?” He ran and hugged me while I continued crying. “Lawrence, take me out of here please.” He assisted me towards the car and let me stay at the front seat.
