Re: Chat Box Banning shall be implemented on the Friendster Talk Chat Box on a member if... [li]If you're proven to have multiple accounts.[/li] [li]If you use profanities in the Chat Box.[/li] [li]If yo

To Admin[s]/Moderators/Forum Members, Just my two cents on this issue. The chatbox has gone a long way from being at the bottom of the page and was then a shoutmix box with limited features some few months ago. I remember I was the one who suggested to improve the chatbox because I knew then that the chatbox is important and has been a good tool to help others and especially, newbies who needed quick help. Yeah, this is just one of the many good reasons why the chatbox should exist than the not so good reasons. It is always better to have fun and help others than to waste time on spammers, flooders, and such. Rules are good. They exist to maintain order. But rules should not discourage people from using the chatbox to make friends, have fun chatting with friends and other forum members and helping others just because some rules are plain and sheer non-sense. There has been a misunderstanding on what the term "spam" is. I think it is being misunderstood with the word "unwanted". Although spam is unwanted, it is far more than that. It is actually "endorsing." I spam you when I invite you somewhere else on the Internet and urge you to register or buy something from there. If I invite you to view my friendster profile or my corporate website or my homepage... that is NOT spam. If I do that (or send messages) consecutively in three lines or more.... then that is another thing... flooding. The chatbox is a chatbox... a place in the main page to chat freely with free minds and enjoying this free world! On the smilleys, why restrict its use? Whats the big deal with using more than one smilley at the same time? There is no such thing as "smilleys spamming" so if I use 10 penguins in one line, that is not flooding nor spamming. However if I do that consecutively in more than one line, then I might be flooding... Got the picture? Smilleys are smilleys - they convey emotions... so If I use more than one happy smilley, that means I am very happy... If I use 10 happy smilleys, then that means I am happier 10X than just being happy. Got the picture? I think if we want to implement a better chatroom and to implement stricter rules, its time that we upgrade our chatbox... I suggest a Java Applet or flash widget connecting to an IRC server and channel. That way we can have channel OPs who would be online with the chatters and who can kick/ban right away those nasty and unwanted pests in the chatbox. IMHO, the current chatbox is simply too inadequate and too simple that it's a sheer non-sense to talk about chat rules and its implementation. I think that with the current situation and as time goes by, the demands for a better and more helpful chat room is more than ever... more so that there is a need to improve it even better to suit the ever-changing needs of friendstertalk.com and its forum members. I would also like to believe that the forum should be separated from the chat room. In as much as the over-all website should have its universal objectives and rules, I believe that the forum is a different medium than the chatroom. Hence, there should be slight differences in each of their own rules. Forum moderators need not be chat moderators and vice-versa. Well, this is just my two cents and to the admin, please do not take away chatting out of friendstertalk.com. It is far more important to help others and at the same time have fun and make friends (after all this is just about 'friendster') .... than waste time with spammers, pests, trolls, flooders, and non-sense. :penguin: :penguin: :penguin: BUT... Kuya Ephe if you think that its good to take this chatbox outta here, then I know you know better what's best for friendstertalk coz you have been a really good moderator. You know what's best for friendstertalk.com  Also, there really are some hard-headed stubborn people in the chatbox who do their thing all the time. I mean, it's ok and understandable to be attention deficit once in a while (we all are), but to do it all the time.,.. it can get really annoying so I can relate to those who think the chatbox should be taken away.
