That's why he died AND why Sasuke was able to posses the Mangekyou Sharingan, "With the death of the one closest to you". That's why he got it! Itachi had a disease, that's why he wasnt as good before. Itachi killed the whole clan just so he can protect the Leaf village. The reason why he joined Akatsuki is that so he can protect the village internally. Then, he spared Sasuke, and he didnt kill him, just to save his "beloved little brother". Poor Sasuke, he lost it. [/spoiler] ** Have you guys noticed, there's one line that said "Itachi killed his [b]girlfriend[/b]" I didnt know he had one!
