Your confession kinda scared me. 
I too experienced that situation before... Stranded on a dark isolated area where thugs and hoodlums nest. 
Fortunately that time, we were near a guard house. But still, it kinda creeps me out when I think about it. Anyway, we got out of there by 2am. Fortunately the guard house has a phone. I called my brother and we got home safely.
